Homebuying and the loan process during Covid-19

We’re in week 6 of the pandemic and many are wondering if homes are currently being bought and sold. The answer is yes.  Some sellers have temporarily taken their homes off the market and are waiting for COVID-19 to end but there are those that need to buy or sell now. Currently, in many of the D.C. surrounding markets there are many more buyers than there are homes to sell.

One of the challenges (outside of a shortage of homes and multiple offers) for buyers is that lenders are tightening their purse strings and in certain situations and loan types  additional criteria is placed on buyers — sometimes kicking them out of the loan program in the midst of the transaction.
